About Paula Gould
Hi! I’m the founder and lead consultant at Float and gather ehf., a consultancy focused on helping brilliant companies and founders create and implement go-to-market, marketing, communications and investor relations strategies. While living in Iceland, I also co-founded WomenTechIceland, the most diverse community in the tech industry, focused on amplifying the leaders, voices and dialog from within Iceland’s tech sector and connecting Iceland to international tech hubs abroad.
I have held a variety of leadership roles that yielded success for the companies and partners with whom I have worked. I was Head of Brand & Communications at Men&Mice (acquired by PE firm Stefnir, then by market leader. Blue Cat), Principal at Frumtak Ventures, a VC firm in Reykjavik, Iceland, and Chief Marketing Officer of startup, Greenqloud, which was acquired by NetApp. I‘ve served on the Board of Directors for CLARA, a then-leader in community analytics for the gaming Industry that was acquired by Jive Software. I also served on the Board of Directors as Vice Chair for the Fulbright Commission of Iceland, and was Board President and Secretary at the English language Rotary Club in Iceland.
While living in Los Angeles, I founded and ran PEG PR, where I advised and nurtured the growth of several international startups-- from a fuel cell manufacturer to social media sites to video and gaming platforms to Web /Mobile content creators to award-winning artists-- by creating and implementing effective PR and business strategies and securing media coverage for clients' products, services and executives, directly to their target audiences. Prior to this, I was Director of PR at Tagworld, an early social network later acquired by MTV and was a studio manager for award-winning photographer, Glen Wexler.
Throughout my career, I have appeared in articles in Forbes, the Wall Street Journal, PRSA and other news and trade media. I have contributed my research and articles to various industry and consumer publications, from Byline Magazine (The New York Press Club's Annual), SXSWorld, INmag (Hollywood), AltPick, EarthHour and News Corp’s The Daily. I wrote for cable TV network G4 at their Best of the Best Show at CES, from 2008-2012. I’ve been a staple on the Startup, Tech and Arts & Entertainment scenes throughout my career, and have spoken at a number of large events such as Connect2Capital, Latitude59, Digital Freedom Fest, UTmessan, and the UMass Isenberg School of Management’s annual Women of Isenberg conference. I also served as a panelist at Comic Con’s annual “The Pitching Hour” panel several times while working in gaming and entertainment.
My non-profits of choice include:
WomenTechIceland the non-profit I co-founded in Iceland to amplify the talent and voices in Iceland and connect Iceland’s robust tech ecosystem with the rest of the world.
EmpowHer.org, a non profit in Los Angeles dedicated to providing entrepreneurial and life skills programs to students in disadvantaged communities so they may learn the skills and self-confidence they need to seek a more fulfilling life through financial independence.
Alzheimer's Association of Massachusetts
Holton's Heroes, a 501 (C) (3) not-for-profit charity, providing support, information and therapy tools for children and their families affected by a post-birth brain injury.
